Darkness Falls

When night falls on Halcyon, the city does not go dark—it exhales. Streetlamps flicker like failing stars, windows dim one by one, and in the seam between the last light and the first shadow, something old and patient begins to move. The blackout starts as a tremor in the grid and swells into a silence that swallows sirens, screens, and every fragile certainty that the dawn will come.

In that endless midnight, a debt-ridden investigator with more ghosts than friends is dragged into a hunt for the source of the darkness. Children are vanishing, leaving only chalk sigils that glow faintly where the last rays of daylight once touched. Doors open where there were no doors. Shadows gather at the edges of photographs and whisper like a tide withdrawn too far. Every alley is a throat, every rooftop a watching eye.

Darkness Falls is a work of dark fantasy and dark fiction from Trai’Quan, a cinematic descent into a city balanced on the knife-edge between worlds. As something ancient stirs beneath the concrete and glass, bargains written in forgotten light are called due, and the divide between hunter and hunted dissolves. In the bruised hours before an uncertain dawn, one choice remains: cling to a dying glow, or step fully into the dark and discover what has been waiting there all along.
